Terry Vaughan "A woman uses her intelligence to find reasons to support her intuition."
This is one of Terry's favorite quotes, said by famous English writer G.K. Chesterton.
Terry says, "What I want more than anything is a world full of empowered and situationally aware women 'Living in the Yellow', who are able to provide their own security and peace of mind, whilst still living their life to the fullest."
Terry's childhood in England had some pretty rough moments, and he left home at an early age because of it. During his time living in London working on stage as an actor, dancer, as well as a television presenter for the BBC, he developed his street smarts and sense of humor early in life as a means to survive.
It was at age 21, after Terry joined Britain's elite Royal Marine Commandos, that he realized how much more there was to learn about operating safely in a variety of environments.
Terry says, "I realized during my time in the service that not paying attention to the details inherent in your surroundings can get you in a world of trouble. As Commandos, we were trained to distinguish between the relevant nuances, and the not so relevant ones, in every environment we operated in. I discovered after leaving the service and beginning to teach self-defense to women, that the real skills they needed were recognizing the threats early enough to avoid conflict altogether. Many of the same awareness skills I had learned in the Commandos were applicable to women in their everyday lives."
He knew from his military experience that using guile to avoid getting into a tough situation in the first place, was always better than having to fight your way out of one, after the fact.
It is this knowledge and understanding, along with his disdain for bullies, that passionately drives him to deliver the most entertaining and insightful presentations at his situational awareness rallies for women.
